Pokémon Rumble U Brings NFC Figures to the Wii U

by Joey Davidson | July 17, 2013

Pokémon Rumble U now has an official North American release date. Starting August 29th, players will be able to use physical NFC figures to expand gameplay in the game.

The Pokémon Rumble series has been a thing since its first release for the Wii. Pokémon Rumble Blast hit the Nintendo 3DS next.

Pokémon Rumble U will launch for the Wii U by way of the Nintendo eShop on August 29th, 2013. It will sell for $17.99.

The figures will hit GameStop stores on the same day, and they will be sold separately in capsules. Each figure will sell for $3.99.

We asked our contact if the figures would eventually be available at retailers other than GameStop, but they indicated that “right now” it’s the only retailer. If that changes, we’ll let you know.
