Google has scheduled an event for Wednesday July 24, where the company will likely highlight new Android features, along with the possibility of fresh Nexus devices – if it decides not to rest purely on the Google Editions already announced. The invitation itself doesn’t reveal anything about what to expect, but seeing as Google largely skipped over Android and Nexus updates at its annual I/O conference in May, next week’s event seems like a pretty good opportunity to make up for that. After all, Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior vice president for Android, will be in attendance.
It’s unclear what new additions Android 4.3 will introduce, though we’d imagine the company will spend time talking about its redesigned camera app, which we’ve seen on the Google Editions of the Galaxy S4 and HTC One. As for what hardware upgrades we’ll see, that’s still up in the air; the latest rumor suggested a new Nexus 7 could arrive at the end of July—maybe Google’s new tab will be made available immediately following the event. We’ll find out soon enough.
