Yesterday, Rockstar released the first official gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto V. For fans of the series, and fans of the way Rockstar built trailers for the spectacular Red Dead Redemption, internal hype meters instantly shot off the charts.
Speculation about which platform the trailer was captured on started to bubble up almost immediately afterwards. Folks have been pulling for Rockstar to announce both next-gen and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto V, and some thought that the recent trailer was actually created using on of those systems.
It looked pretty.
Turns out, Rockstar says the trailer was captured with the PlayStation 3 version of the game. This is what the company offered up in the comment section of the trailer on their official site.
Just to clarify for those asking, this particular video was captured with footage from the PS3 version of the game.
The developers insist that both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are identical, so take that as you like. That news comes from a recent Asked and Answered column from Rockstar.
As for you folks, myself included, hoping for a PC version of Rockstar’s upcoming open world extravaganza… hold on a little longer.
