One of the perks of working at a major company is getting to use new devices before they are released. One of the potential drawbacks is that one of those employees could potentially let a cat out of the bag before the product is officially announced.
Joe Belfiore of Microsoft posted some photos to his Flickr account recently that may be a bit too telling. While the content in two particular images is innocent enough, the EXIF data appears to reveal that the images were taken with a “Nokia Lumia 1020.” While the Lumia 1020 has been heavily rumored, and Nokia is holding a press event on Thursday, this phone has not yet been officially announced.
As with EXIF data, it can be manipulated, but it seems doubtful that a Microsoft exec would bother going through the hassle as there is nothing to gain from it. The images were exported using Adobe Lightroom so these aren’t direct from the camera and actually tell us very little about the handset’s camera capabilities, so we’ll just have to enjoy the fact that it appears that the phone is indeed out there in the wild.
TechnoBuffalo will be at the Nokia event on Thursday so be sure to tune in for live coverage of the possible unveiling of the Lumia 1020.
