Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S4 arrived on MetroPCS’ 4G network today for a handful of U.S. cities, offering the premium smartphone with a no-annual-contract service plan for $549. The handset is currently available in Atlanta, Hardford, Philadelphia, Boston, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Dallas, Ft. Worth and New York.
MetroPCS boasts “one of the best wireless values in town,” offering 4G unlimited data, talk and text for as little as $40 per month. The carrier offered a similar deal with the Galaxy S3 last year, delivering high speeds, and recently merged with T-Mobile, improving its LTE speed and coverage. So hopefully its network for the Galaxy S4 will expand in the near future.
Samsung’s flagship handset comes equipped with a 5-inch 1920 x 1080-pixel AMOLED display, a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, at least 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, NFC, a 2,600mAh battery, and runs the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The Galaxy S4 also runs Samsung’s TouchWiz software which brings a number of additional features including Smart Paus, Air View, Air Gesture, Group Play and more.
