Motorola’s mysterious event planned for next week apparently isn’t going to focus on the company’s recently teased Moto X. Instead, Motorola will focus on something else entirely, although it’s unclear what it could be. We recently saw @evleaks reveal a Droid Maxx image, while we’ve also heard information about a series of Ultra handsets incoming, so perhaps the company will unveil something about that.
According to CNET’s anonymous sources, “the Motorola event is actually about something else besides the company’s first big Android release as a Google company.” Many people speculated Motorola would tell us more about its Moto X project after launching an ad campaign talking about a new “design it yourself” initiative. Veteran tech personality Leo Laporte even speculated next week’s event would be about Moto X, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
It’s odd Motorola would tease a device and then hold a private event for something else. But it’s been a long, long time since the company, now under the guidance of Google, released anything noteworthy, and it seems like finally something is coming. July 10 and 11 are just days away, so we’ll know very soon what Motorola has in store.
