Spotify updated its iOS application on Tuesday with a new feature that allows iPhone users to discover new music. The application examines music that you’ve already played and makes suggestions on your history. If you recently listened to Blake Shelton and Florida Georgia Line, for example, it will notice that you like country and recommend playing Tim McGraw songs.
It also has concert listings powered by Songkick, so if you listen to an artist that has a tour date coming to your area, it will recommend that you “see a gig near you.” It even considers reviews from Pitchfork and recommends albums that are similar to previous albums you’ve recently listened to.
Spotify’s update also includes several bug fixes, some of them relating to random app crashes, and moves a few buttons around so that they are easier to access and are more intuitive. The application introduces Spotify’s new logo, a new Now Playing view that shows what’s going to play next and more. It’s only available for iOS now but will launch on other platforms, such as Android, soon.
