Apple Stores across the country are expected to announce the company’s yearly back-to-school promo this week, offering $100 gift cards with the purchase of a Mac computer and $50 gift cards with any iPad or iPhone. The promotion could begin as soon as Tuesday according to 9to5Mac, which cites “Apple retail sources” in its report.
Unlike last year, the iPhone is being included in Apple’s back-to-school offerings this year, giving students one more reason to upgrade to a smartphone. The promotion is also getting off to a late start as compared to 2012, when it began in mid-June and ran through mid-September. Decorations are likely to go up starting tonight through tomorrow.
Gift cards awarded through Apple’s summer-long promotion work across the iTunes Store, App Store and iBookstore, with no restrictions on what you can purchase on those platforms. In previous years the company gave away free iPods instead, but ended that practice in 2011.
