Metal Gear Solid is about to have another breakout year. The releases of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain are just as confusing as the series’ canon itself, but one thing is certain that Konami is aware of…
Fans are pumped. Metal Gear Solid V showed strongly at E3 this year, and many are waiting to play the new FOX Engine and see the beloved espionage series make the leap into the next generation. Best of all, we won’t have to wait an eternity like we did for Metal Gear Solid 4.
To further get the fans excited and talking, Konami is releasing almost the entire series in a single bundle. Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection holds eight games and two graphic novels, making it the first time such a massive canon will all be available on a single console.
The trailer released by Konami drips with nostalgia. Familiar faces of fallen foes from over the years, memorable scenes, and that incredible music the series is known for. Fans of the series will feel their hearts leap into the mouths at the site of it and should immediately want to buy the package.
Or at least, they can play the games on the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection not released too long ago, download the first game through PSN, and snag a cheap copy of MGS4 at Gamestop. The only game not readily available through modern means is Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, so take that into account when making your choice.
Either way, the nostalgia is heart pounding, and that trailer is impossible to not enjoy given the quality of games and legacy they each hold.
There really is no series out there like Metal Gear.
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection will be available on July 9th exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
