NVIDIA announced on Wednesday its portable gaming gadget, Shield, won’t arrive until July, though an exact date isn’t clear. The company originally said it would launch the device on Thursday, June 27, but the Tegra 4 powered device has seemingly run into manufacturing issues. According to Nvidia, “a mechanical issue that relates to a third-party component” is to blame—Engadget was told the offending component is internal.
“We want Shield to be perfect, so we have elected to shift the launch date to July,” NVIDIA said. It’s definitely good the company is striving for perfection, but seeing as the device has been on our radars since the beginning of this year, we’re getting a little anxious to get our hands back on the gaming device. Once we know about the precise launch date, we’ll let you guys know.
