Motorola is hard at work on its highly rumored Motorola X smartphone, which is expected to hit carriers in August. It’s possible that its branding will be different on Verizon Wireless, however, as the frequently correct @evleaks recently said that two new Motorola devices will launch on Verizon soon.
The devices listed include the DROID RAZR Ultra and the RAZR M Ultra. We’re not sure exactly what the phones will offer, though it’s about time for a refresh. The DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD launched on October 18. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the family updated with quad-core processors, the aforementioned devices had 1.5GHz dual-core chips, upgraded cameras and larger displays to compete with the influx of phablets on the market right now. We’re also expecting the latest version of Android, perhaps even a pure-Jelly Bean experience since Motorola has been working more aggressively under Google’s wings.
The branding seems particularly bizarre, however. How are consumers supposed to know what the difference between “MAXX” and “Ultra” is? Verizon and Motorola will really need to make that clear. Here’s a look at the Tweet from @evleaks:
