Think Sony’s showed everything it has planned for the early days of the PlayStation 4’s lifecycle? Think again. It looks like the world will see more new stuff in August.
Gamereactor landed an interview with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO Jim Ryan. That video sits at the head of this post. CVG did some transcription work and picked out this bit about how many titles the PlayStation 4 will see in the months and years to come.
“There’s a lot [of games] coming. I’m sure you heard from Shuhei [Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios] that he has, just from his studios, 30 games in development. 20 are going to ship within the first year of the console’s life and of those 12 are new IPs, so there’s a lot going on, it’s just that we need to keep stuff back. We’ve got Gamescom for us Europeans and we need something to show at Gamescom.”
That last bit about Gamescom indicates that Sony is set to reveal even more.
If you’re still on the fence about buying a PlayStation 4, I’d suggest you stay tuned. The yet-to-be-revealed software might be the bang up exclusive that will push you over the edge into pre-ordering.
Any bets on what we’ll see? Gamescom will run in Cologne, Germany from August 21st thru 25th this year. We’ll have more as it comes.
