iNiS is finally ready to launch its latest game on iOS and Google Play. Eden to Garden pits an army of plants out to defend their garden from an invading army to robots. Not the most original concept in the world, but given the talent behind the title, I’m willing to give it a shot.
The independent developer had established itself as king of the rhythm games on the Nintendo DS. A trilogy of slick and fun games published through Nintendo earned them fans around the world, and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!, its sequel, and the localized Elite Beat Agents still rank very high in the memories of owners.
Its cult classic Gitaroo Man also deserves a mention, too.
However, the company scored an exclusive deal through Microsoft Game Studios to publish Lips, a karaoke simulator designed to compete with Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Needless to say, Lips was not a huge success and held the studio in limbo for a while.
Thanks to mobile markets and some generous publishers, the company has been on a bit of a tear to regain the momentum. It published Demon’s Score back in 2012 through Square Enix, and now it is ready for you to play Eden of Green from Zynga.
While not having much to do with music, this tower defense game is brimming with the character and soul iNiS’ classics are well known for. Perhaps supporting it can give iNiS the financial backing to deliver more great musical experience.
If you can forgive the lack of originality in the premise of this obvious Plants vs. Zombies clone and see through to the creativity, give it a shot and let me know. It can’t run on my aging Android phone.
