HTC One owners are still waiting to upgrade their smartphones to Android 4.2.2, which Google rolled out back in February, but according to the latest rumors the aluminum handset won’t get updated until next month at the earliest. The Taiwanese smartphone maker has confirmed the Android 4.2.2 upgrade is in the works, but has yet to reveal when it will arrive.
Australian cellular carrier Telstra posted on its website that the HTC One on its network would be getting Android 4.2.2 as early as July 22. However, the carrier still hasn’t received the update from HTC, and needs to perform at least one round of testing before it rolls out the update. Furthermore, the update will likely be available for unlocked versions of the handset first before it’s pushed out to carriers. The upcoming HTC One Google Edition will also ship with Android 4.2.2 OS out of the box when it launches in the U.S. on June 26.
We reached out to HTC for comment on when Android 4.2.2 will land on the One, but have yet to receive official word from the company.
