AT&T on Wednesday announced six new 4G LTE markets and expansions of its existing footprint in eight additional cities. The carrier now offers 4G LTE services in 284 markets.
The new cities include Forlence-Muscle Shoals and Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Gallup, New Mexico; Brownsville-Harlingen and McAllen, Texas; and Tri-Cities, Washington. It expanded its network in Salinas-Seaside-Monterey, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Boston, Massachusetts; Athens, Ohio; Allentown-Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Providence, Rhode Island; and Cheyenne/Laramie, Wyoming.
AT&T says it’s still on track to cover 300 million people in the United States by the end of 2014 but that more than 200 million people already have access to 4G LTE. The carrier’s network was recently dubbed the fastest in the United States by PCMag, though Verizon currently offers a more expansive network.
