The Galaxy S4 Mini, a 4.3-inch variant of the flagship handset, may be heading to Verizon in the near future. Droid-Life reported the news earlier today after spotting the suspicious model number SCH-I435 on Bluetooth SIG.
The model number lines up with previous handsets in the Samsung Galaxy S family on Verizon, including high-end smartphones like the Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) and the Galaxy S III (SCH-I535). Meanwhile, mid-range devices have all been at the 400 level when it comes to model number, including the Stratosphere (SCH-I405,) and Stratosphere 2 (SCH-I425).
The Galaxy S4 Mini, which sports a smaller screen, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera rear camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, certainly qualifies as mid-range among Samsung’s line of devices. Then again, the new model number could also refer to the water-resistant Galaxy S4 Active or the 16-megapixel Galaxy S4 Zoom. We expect to learn more about all three devices — including where each is headed — during Samsung’s press conference on June 20 in London.
