Here’s a little love for a series that never really gets its due. Dynasty Warriors finds itself in the middle of a situation most series would kill themselves to be in.
The games are cheap and easy to make, and its fans don’t ever want it to change. Combining these two facts together and the profits generated by these loyal fans are enough to make the company money and fund an entirely new game of the same nature.
It’s like a perpetual battery that just never quits.
That’s why when you are looking at Dynasty Warriors 8, you are also looking at Dynasty Warriors 2 with a higher polygon count and resolution. To be fair, the cast has expanded, the number of enemies on screen have increased, a few new games modes have been added and the move-set has grown to unfathomable numbers.
However, the basic formula in the game was born from a PlayStation 2 launch title released all the way back in 2001, and it’s still recognizable in its same form today! It’s a living conundrum of everything that gaming has become, and it just boggle my mind how such a living treasure can continue to exist in this day and age.
That’s why I wholeheartedly recommend that you at least consider checking out Dynasty Warriors 8 when it releases on July 12th. No other budget series has the audacity to pass itself off as a AAA series and manage to get away with it.
Who knows? You might even have a little fun in the process.
