Apple and Google aren’t exactly best friends these days, but can the two companies get along under one roof? According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Apple will assemble the new Mac Pro at the same 450,000 square foot Flexitronics facility in Fort Worth, Texas where Google and Motorola recently announced the Moto X Phone will be manufactured.
It was assumed that Apple would be working with Foxconn for the U.S. production of its new computer, but the company has distanced itself from its famous manufacturing partner in recent years as it brings additional business to Pegatron.
Both Apple and Google are planning to move some manufacturing to America, not just for the good publicity but because, as Motorola Mobility CEO Dennis Woodside noted at the D11 conference, manufacturing the devices in the U.S. allows for the easier implementation of design or engineering changes and should also help cut down on leaked information and photos.
There aren’t many facilities in the U.S. equipped for this kind of intensive manufacturing so it makes sense that the two companies would end up sharing one factory, which was previously used by Nokia.
