Netflix Adding User Profiles By Summer’s End

Each member of your household will be able to have his or her own personal Netflix profile later this summer. According to Netflix VP of Product Innovation Todd Yellin, the streaming service will introduce separate profiles so your recommendations and viewing habits don’t get mixed up when sharing an account. The feature is currently being tested right now, and will allow up to either five or six (that’s allegedly up in the air) different users to create an individual profile under a single Netflix account.

Netflix said the feature won’t change current terms attached to an account, but it will allow for a more personal experience for each user. Couple this with a shared family plan, which allows streaming from multiple devices at once, and you’ve got one happy Netflix household.

As you can see in the photo above—Yellin said the interface could change—you simply click on your own personal avatar and your profile will load up. Then you’ll be able to see recommendations tailored for you, along with social sharing and queued up movies and TV shows. It doesn’t sound like the most groundbreaking feature on paper, but it’ll surely make for a much cleaner and pleasant experience overall.
