Nintendo announced today the development of Mario Kart 8 for Wii U. Set to launch in Spring 2014, Mario Kart 8 will feature “anti-gravity racing,” which will allow players to race on walls and ceilings. It made me think of those race tracks I built when I was a kid that went up walls and around loops. Those things were sweet.
In addition to the new features, gliding, underwater racing and motorcycles are coming back from Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Wii.
According to Satoru Iwata on Nintendo Direct, Mario Kart 8 will feature “the best collection of multiplayer modes the series has seen yet” as well as elements that allow sharing over Miiverse, though he didn’t clarify yet what those elements were.
