The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Screenshots, World Said to be 20% Larger Than Skyrim

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to close the book on Geralt, one of the great unsung video game heroes in recent memory. His previous quests have had him dance a thin line of morality, but his last one is proving to be the biggest yet.

Developer CD Projekt RED has given some interesting numbers and statistics regarding The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game will pack in over 100 hours of gameplay, 50 for the main quest and 50 for the additional side-quests, and is claiming to be the “largest living open world” in RPG history.

Gameplay Producer Marek Ziemak has even claimed that the game is 20% larger than the current standard, Skyrim.

“Skyrim, which I think we all love, is a rather short game in terms of the main storyline. If you just want to focus on that element and you’re not that interested in exploring the world, it’s not that big. But that’s the core of The Witcher 3: the main story. It’s 40, 50 hours, plus the open world.”

Could this be considered a good old fashioned RPG throwdown? We all know what Bethesda and crew are capable of, but we haven’t seen its capabilities on the next generation. CD Projekt RED has a several year head start and has proven itself in the past to be top of the line RPG makers.

One can only wait and see what Bethesda has up its sleeve to answer this calling.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been confirmed for PlayStation 4 and PC releases. Rumor is that CD Projekt RED will unveil the Xbox One version at E3 this week.
