After being spoiled a few days early by the leak of a GameInformer magazine cover leak, Titanfall wasn’t quite the surprise it was meant to be, but it’s clearly one if EA’s major releases for the Xbox One. Titanfall is the first release from Respawn Entertainment, lead by former Infinity Ward head Vince Zampella.
The game combines first person run-and-gun gameplay with mech combat. While the on-foot shooting looks like just another modern combat game, the stuff that happens once your feet leave the ground, whether by jetpack or by a mech picking you up, looks great. Some insane traversal stuff with wall-running, jet packs, and very cool-looking mech sabotage going on in the trailer makes the game look like fun to move around in.
The mech hand-to-hand combat is intense, with one sequence showing one mech charging another and tearing the pilot from the cockpit. There’s a ton of potential for this to be a great game.
