Reading the Fine Print: PlayStation 4 Multiplayer Requires PlayStation Plus

Sony destroyed Microsoft in their conference today with announcements of no DRM, a backwards compatibility solution using Gaikai, and a $100 cheaper price tag on their console.

They didn’t stop there, though. They followed it up with a hilarious video demonstrating how to trade PS4 games. At the bottom of the video is some fine print that gamers will want to know about:


As has been rumored, PlayStation 4 multiplayer will require a paid PlayStation Plus subscription.

With all the other wins in Sony’s corner tonight, I don’t know that fans will mind this change, but it’s definitely been a long time coming. Will this affect other services like Netflix, the same way Xbox Live Gold does? No word yet, but the wording seems to suggest it will not.
