Not long after the release of the not-so-cryptic teaser trailer seen above, Lionhead Studios announced an HD remake of the original Fable game titled Fable Anniversary. Two games in the series have been released since the first one hit shelves in 2004, but many fans still consider it to be a minor classic.
Creator Peter Molyneux has moved on from the studio, but new Lead Designer Ted Timmins had this to say about the remake.
“We’re really excited to bring Fable to Xbox 360. It’s the game that the Fable community has been asking for, so we wanted to make sure Fable Anniversary delivered the definitive Fable experience for both long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise.”
The original Fable has always been my favorite in the series, and the HD coat of paint can only make it better. The second game is the overall best in terms of scope and achieving its ambitions, but the original has a much more innocent and simple charm to it, and it doesn’t get lost in the size of a huge world
It works, too, because fans need a reminder of Fable’s RPG roots after the Kinect disaster Fable: The Journey nearly derailed the series.
Lionhead Studios has confirmed that the game is being released for the Xbox 360 but did not mention anything about the upcoming Xbox One.
