Apple Now Offering $149 In-Store iPhone 5 Display Replacements

iPhone 5

Have you recently dropped your delicate iPhone onto the hard, unforgiving concrete? It happens—it’s just one of the many dangers of smartphone ownership. But don’t chuck it in the trash just yet, or go searching through the sketchy third-party channels. Apple is now offering a $149 replacement service for cracked iPhone 5 displays whether you have AppleCare+ or not.

Apple recently updated its repair policies in an effort to save money, and it seems those policies have quietly gone into effect—for both cracked displays and screens with multitouch issues. The price is actually pretty competitive with what’s out there from third parties, and you can go directly into an Apple store to get your device fixed. Additionally, the price is pretty solid for those who didn’t have AppleCare+ at all.

Apple will reportedly roll out other repair options in July, including camera, sleep/wake and logic board services. According to MacRumors, the company is also looking into subscription-based AppleCare plans tied to individual customer devices.
