Verizon has lagged behind its competitors in bringing the HTC One to market, we still don’t know if it ever will, but recent rumors suggest it could be coming soon with the latest version of Android installed. Other variants of the handset (excluding the Google Edition) still feature the 4.1.2 OS.
An HTC ROM development enthusiast recently said via Twitter that he has learned the Verizon HTC One will indeed run Android 4.2.2 and will launch sometime this summer, possibly before the end of June. We don’t know how accurate the developer’s track record is, however, so we’re leaving this in rumor territory for now. In addition, carrier launch dates can often slip due to testing procedures or other reasons.
It sounds like Verizon’s model could launch around the same time as the Google Edition (June 26), though it will likely be priced much lower at around $200 with a new two-year contract.
