This weekend Best Buy will roll out a one-day promotion, offering iPhone 4 and 4S owners $150 credit towards a new iPhone 5 in exchange for their current handset. Meaning you can trade in your old Apple smartphone for a brand new one at no extra cost.
The deal lasts all day Saturday at Best Buy stores nationwide, and although it is a pretty sweet deal there are a few fine print details you should know before you head to your nearest location. First, you must already be eligible for an upgrade. You also have to activate your new iPhone 5 on a two-year contract with Verizon, AT&T or Sprint (sorry T-Mobile fans). Finally, the deal is only available in-store, meaning you can’t cash in online.
Best Buy has been making a noticeable push into mobile tech retail recently, setting up partnerships with both Google and Samsung in the past year. Samsung recently announced the launch of Samsung Experience kiosks at Best Buy locations across the country and Google inked a similar deal earlier this year to open hundreds of pop-up Chrome stores to showcase the company’s line of Nexus smartphones and tablets, Chromebook tablets, and (eventually) probably Google Glass.
