iOS 7 rumors have been one of the biggest sources of Apple speculation for the past few months, and last night Tim Cook adressed them at the D11 conference. Apple’s CEO finally confirmed that Jony Ive is leading the iOS 7 redesign, and revealed that the new iOS and OS X will be unveiled at WWDC next month. Cook also touched on a number of other issues, from upcoming innovation to the company’s new senior enviornmental adviser Lisa P. Jackson

“Yes. Jony is really key,” Cook said regarding Ive’s role on building iOS 7. “We recognized that Jony had contributed significantly to the look and feel of Apple for many, many years and could do that for software as well, and I think it’s absolutely incredible,” Cook added.

A report last week revealed the extent of Ive’s involvement in upgrading iOS 7, alleging that he had replaced the skeumorphic design for a flat UI with lots of black and white. Cook wouldn’t confirm if the update will be as massive as everyone expects, instead stating that he would “let you be the judge” when the new mobile OS is unveiled at WWDC on June 10.

Watch Tim Cook talk about iOS and hint at what else Apple has in store for 2013 and the future in the video above.
