Wow — hot on the heels of its Tumblr acquisition, Yahoo is now apparently interested in acquiring Hulu.
AllThingsD broke the news on Friday and noted, as we’ve reported in the past, Yahoo isn’t alone in its interest for Hulu. Several other large firms are seeking to acquire the streaming video service including Time Warner Cable, DirecTV, Guggenheim Digital and a handful of financial firms including William Morris Endeavor, The Chernin Group and KKR.
Hulu might be particularly hot now because, like Amazon and Netflix, it’s launching its own original web series shows, which have proved successful for its competitors. AllThingsD didn’t say how much Yahoo is willing to spend on Hulu, although we imagine it’s a bit higher than the $500 million offer that’s reportedly on the table from The Chernin Group.
