iWatch Concept Art Shows Maps Integration

by Jacob Kleinman | May 24, 2013

New iWatch concept art from prolific 3D modeler and designer Martin Hakej imagines how the rumored 1.5-inch or 2-inch touch screen will integrate one of the most frequently used types of apps on any smartphone: maps and navigation.

A new series of 3D models shows a curved-screen iWatch placed next to a normal iPhone. The handset has a map open, showing a pretty direct route through the Netherlands. Meanwhile, the iWatch appears to be synced to the iPhone and simply shows a blue arrow facing in the correct direction; directly underneath the arrow the screen also displays the distance remaining and the destination’s name. It may not seem like much, but imagine setting your destination and then glancing at your wrist periodically as you walk or drive instead of having to pull our your smartphone.

Apple has yet to confirm the iWatch is in production, but recent reports suggest the device won’t hit the market until 2014.
