EA Teases New Need For Speed – Have No Rules, Show No Mercy

Need For Speed next Gen

EA has posted a not so mysterious picture on its official Need For Speed Facebook page. A single insanely-detailed car is all that can be seen, but that image alone speaks a novel.

This newest Need For Speed is most likely the first entry is the series’ next-gen line-up. The detail in the car is far more impressive than anything the series achieved on the current console line-up.

The car in question is also a police vehicle built on a racing car frame, so no doubt escaping the law or even controlling the law will be a huge element in the next Need For Speed game.

A final hint on the side of the car reads the word “Pursuit,” meaning this could possibly be Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, following the successful relaunch of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit created by Criterion in 2010.

However, Criterion Games Creative Director Alex Ward recently commented that Criterion Games was looking to steer away from racing games for the time being, so more than likely EA either paid top dollar for Criterion to get this next-gen racer to work or the series is back in EA Black Box’s hands.

It makes sense that EA would be ready to show off its biggest racing franchise. Sony finally announced Gran Turismo 6 last week, and Microsoft just showed off its next-generation Forza Motorsport 5 at the Xbox Reveal presentation yesterday. EA obviously doesn’t want to fall too far behind on the competition, so expect more on this new Need For Speed at E3 I would guess.

Any speculation, comments or dreams about this new Need For Speed racer? We were big fans of the most recent Need For Speed Most Wanted when it was released last year, so we hope lightning strikes this series twice.
