Netflix CEO Basically Rules Out Support for BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry Z10 Verizon-Screen

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings recently sat down with The Canadian Press to discuss a variety of topics ranging from the new season of Arrested Development to BlackBerry 10. Hastings hinted in his interview that his company isn’t preparing to deliver Netflix support to BlackBerry 10 in the near future, which only adds to BlackBerry’s issues with its lackluster app offering.

Hastings admitted that he hasn’t used a BlackBerry 10 device yet, but said that he was a huge fan before the iPhone launched. “We don’t currently support streaming on the BlackBerry, it’s a unique operating system you have to target, and unfortunately there’s just not enough volume for entertainment,” he said. “It’s a great device for getting work done but people don’t interact with it as an entertainment device the same way they do with say an iPhone or Android phone.”

If BlackBerry 10 takes off we imagine Hastings and Netflix will rethink support for BlackBerry 10, but for now it appears there’s not much headway being made.
