We’ve been talking about flexible smartphone screens for a while now, bendable touch displays that can be rolled up or folded and won’t break when dropped. Following Samsung’s presentation at CES 2013, LG is reportedly set to unveil its new prototype at Display Week 2013 in Vancouver, Canada later this week.

Flexible, unbreakable smartphone screens are coming at a “crucial time when smart devices are being used more than ever and at increased risk for damage from drops, hits and other accidents,” LG told CNET.

At the event this week LG only plans to reveal the design for its new flexible touch-screen, but according Yoon Bu-hyun, the South Korean company’s VP of mobile, new smartphones with bendable OLED displays will hit stores as early as July 2013. The future is just a few months away, although we wonder how long it will take for flexible components to follow suit.
