Apple is planning to open a huge new retail store in San Francisco’s Union Square. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the company has submitted plans to the city, and the move will be replacing its old location at Stockton and Ellis, where the Apple Store has been located for the last nine years.

The new location will provide Apple with roughly 45 percent more space than its previous store, and it will create an additional 50 jobs on top of the 350 who already worked there.

Union Square is an area which has traditionally been reserved for high-end retailers. While a further walking distance from the nearest station than the older location, Apple and city supervisor David Chiu hope the store will increase foot traffic through the area. The location was previously occupied by Levi’s.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the city of San Francisco on a new Apple retail store at Union Square.,” Apple said a statement regarding the new store to AllThingsD. “Our store on Stockton Street has welcomed over 13 million customers since it opened nine years ago, and we look forward to serving them in an amazing new location when this project is complete.”
