Google Maps Refresh Looks Amazing

Google I/O kicks off today and we’re expecting to hear tons of news around Android, Chrome, Google Glass and more. Last night, however, Google accidentally slipped and published a page that showed off some of the new features of the Google Maps refresh. It sounds like it will launch in beta form, probably later today, and users can sign up to get access as Google allows new testers in.

Thankfully, Droid-Life grabbed a treasure trove of screenshots of the new interface before Google pulled the page. We love what we see: everything looks simple, clean and more refined than ever. Google also says that Maps will get smarter the more you use it and that you’ll be able to compare the fastest means of travel, whether it’s by walking, bike, public transportation or car.

Check out the full gallery above and stay tuned for our coverage of the event, which kicks off at 9 a.m. PST.
