It’s been a long and arduous path to get an official announcement from Sony on Gran Turismo 6, especially over the last month or so, but today could finally be the day with the 15th Anniversary bash being held at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK.
However, Sony can’t help but tease us one last time before this thing becomes official. The latest in a series of “too close to be coincidence” events gives the game an empty product page on the official Gran Turismo website.
Let’s recap really quickly, shall we? Hyped picked up in February when Sony Worldwide Studios boss Michael Denny let it slip that Gran Turismo 6 would be a PlayStation 3 exclusive in 2013. Late April rolled around with the game and cover art popping up on retail sites all around the world.
To cap it all off, just the week before last, Sony announced that they would make an announcement on the future of the series at the 15th Anniversary Event. If we hadn’t already had it spelled out for us, we might still be in suspense wondering what the announcement could possibly be.
Now, the product page which was accidentally put up on the web has been taken down because someone at Sony believes it has a secret on its hands. Why bother even trying anymore? You’ve got less than a day!
We will just have to wait until the event being held later today to get the whole story. All evidence is pointing towards a PlayStation 3 release, but there are still some holding out for it to be an early PS4 game. Any bets?
