Google Play Updated to Version 4.1.6 Ahead of Google I/O

by Todd Haselton | May 15, 2013May 15, 2013 7:15 am PDT

Google last night quietly issued an update to Google Play that changes the user interface just a hair. It’s not as drastic as the update that was issued in April, but it tweaks the way the icons for apps, games, movies & TV, music, books and magazines look. Each now has an angular and more colorful icon.

Android Police, which first spotted the update, also said that Google slightly increased the space between “Open” and “Install” or “Uninstall” so that users don’t accidentally hit the wrong button while trying to interact with an application from within the Google Play store. The company also made other minor tweaks, such as a redesign for the redeem page for when you have a Google Gift card.

We don’t see the update on our Android devices just yet but they typically roll out over the span of a few weeks.
