Google Maps Director Takes Jab At Apple Maps

Who can’t appreciate a good burn? If you do, then you might delight in the opening comments of Daniel Graf, director of Google Maps for mobile, at the I/O conference earlier today.

“As most of you probably heard, last December, we launched Google Maps on the iPhone. It has been a tremendous success. The feedback has been very positive. People called it sleek, simple, beautiful, and — let’s not forget — accurate.”

Cue laughter and rousing applause. Of course, the scenario was pointed because of Apple’s well-publicized woes with its own Maps app. When Google Maps launched in the App Store a few months ago, it was one of the most fiercely downloaded apps in iOS history.
