Sony may soon launch a new Xperia-branded smartphone in the United States called the Xperia A. The device was recently spotted making its way through the FCC by¬†Engadget and reportedly offers a 5-inch display with a 1080p full HD screen, LTE, a 2,300mAh battery, 16GB of storage and a 13-megapixel camera. That sounds a lot like the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL, which also offer similar specs, save for the battery, so we’re wondering if this is just the U.S. mutant version of those devices.

AT&T has typically been Sony’s U.S. carrier partner of choice. Whether or not the Xperia A ends up there is totally up in the air but the naming (Xperia A) certainly suggests that will be the case. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more; typically the leaks start to increase as a launch date nears.
