Flashback Friday: T-Mobile Sidekick

Flashback FridayIt may be tough to believe, but there was once a time when the Sidekick line from T-Mobile was pretty much the cutting edge of mobile technology.

As was mentioned in Jon Rettinger’s top 10 phones of all time videos, our own guru of all things mobile carried a Sidekick as his daily driver when he graduated from college. While at first I was a little surprised by his choice, his reasons for making it number three on his list made a lot of sense. It was the forerunner of smartphones and gave you a form of apps unlike we had seen before. It’s sad the line has disappeared despite T-Mobile’s efforts to relaunch it as an Android phone, but it will live on as one of the keystones in the development of the smartphones we know today and tomorrow.

And hey, it had a pretty nifty flip out screen.
