Banjo-Kazooie Composer Writing Music for Castle of Illusion HD Remake

The upcoming HD remake of Sega’s classic Disney Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse appears to have some solid tunes behind it. It turns out that Grant Kirkhope, the famous gaming composer from Rare’s glory days, is writing the soundtrack for the game.

Here’s the tweet from Kirkhope that spills the beans.

Should hopefully finish my final piece for “Castle of Illusion HD starring Mickey Mouse” tonight!!!’

Simple as that, right?

Banjo-Kazooie fans know that Kirkhope’s music has a whimsical and magical quality to it that makes the games below the tunes really soar. In fact, I’d argue that the music inĀ Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is among the best original soundtracks in gaming. Case-in-point, this medley that harkens back to the originalĀ Banjo-Kazooie on the Nintendo 64.

If Kirkhope can create music even half as memorable as the stuff above, the tunes in Disney Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse HD will be awesome. This remake is set to hit the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms this summer.
