AT&T is now offering its Digital Life security and home automation products in 15 markets. On the surface, Digital Life is a very simple and easy-to-use tool for home owners. You can control different aspects of your house, whether it’s the lights, your security system or your thermostat, right from a mobile device.
AT&T is offering two security packages. Simple Security costs $29.99 per month and includes window and door sensors, a disarm/arm keypad and a keychain remote. The Smart Security package starts at $39.99 per month and includes the option to monitor your house from a mobile device or computer. You can also add on various “smart” features such as a camera package for $9.99 per month, a water detection package for $4.99 per month and a water control package for $9.99 per month. There’s also an energy package for controlling small appliances, your lights and your thermostat for $4.99 per month.
The first markets include Atlanta, Austin, Texas, Boulder, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Riverside, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and “select areas of New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.” AT&T expects to expand the service to 50 markets by the end of this year.
