Nintendo Announces Wii U Virtual Console Starting Lineup

F-Zero Virtual Console

The Wii U will be getting its Virtual Console after the big spring update hits the system. Late yesterday, Nintendo revealed which games fans will see on day one.

Here’s the full launch list for the Wii U’s Virtual Console.

  • F-Zero
  • Super Mario World
  • Balloon Fight
  • Excitebike
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Ice Climber
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Punch-Out!!

The only disappointing bit? This Virtual Console lineup probably feels extremely familiar to Wii owners. Wii owners have all seen these titles before. Why? Between the NES and SNES, Nintendo has a massive library of potential Virtual Console titles. Just seems odd to see so many games most of us already own several times over in the starting lineup.

Of course, Nintendo will be adding new games at a constant clip. While the starting team of Virtual Console favorites might be games we’ve played one billion times before, we’ll certainly see some rarities pop up in the weeks to come. As those games release, we’ll have the news.

Which of the Virtual Console titles will you snag at launch? Just a tip: Kirby’s Adventure is only 30 cents if you buy it right now.
