Nokia said Monday that it was granted an injunction against the HTC One after an Amsterdam court ruled in its favor. “HTC has no license or authorization from Nokia to use these microphones or the Nokia technologies from which they have been developed,” the company said in a statement obtained by Reuters.
Nokia argued that it invented the technology used in microphones manufactured by STMicroelectronics NV and that HTC was using the microphones in the HTC One. Nokia says STMicroelectronics NV made the component to be used solely in smartphones built by the Finnish firm.
It remains unclear how this will affect sales of the HTC One on a global scale, although we presume HTC will need to either license the technology from Nokia or swap the part out.
