Pocket Gets More Social With New Send to Friend Feature

by Brandon Russell | April 19, 2013

Pocket, one of the best read-it-later platforms available, has expanded on the service’s social sharing experience, the company announced earlier this week. In addition to simply sharing through popular services such as Facebook, Twitter, email, etc., users can now send links directly to other Pocket users. Now Pocket is like a small social community of its own.

When you send to a friend, that person will be notified either within the app or through a push notification (plus an email). It sounds like your friends won’t be able to ignore something you send them. Pocket explained that the new feature is the result of typical usage; people share more often through email than they do over social networks, at least from its platform, so why not just make the service its own little community? The new feature is available across all platforms, including iOS, Android and over the Web.
