Facebook Messenger App for Android Gets VoIP Support

Facebook VoIP Calling Comes to Android

Just like on iOS, Facebook has rolled out support for VoIP calling to its Messenger app for Android on Thursday. The update brings the feature to 24 countries around the globe for Android users, meaning millions of people can access VoIP calling. If you prefer not to fuss with landline bills or international charges, this is a perfectly convenient way to talk with friends and loved ones.

Facebook said VoIP support only represents a fraction of the company’s servers, so a further global rollout should be no problem. To perform a call through the Messenger app, simply tap the “i” button inside a conversation and choose Free Call. As you can see in the picture below, my Nexus 4 called Ralph’s iPhone 5 no problem.
