T-Mobile Claims First-Day iPhone Sales Have Been “Gangbusters”

T-Mobile iPhone 5

It took T-Mobile years to finally strike a deal with Apple, but the carrier finally offers the iPhone. And, wouldn’t you know it, the device is already selling quite well, according to T-Mobile CMO Mike Sievert. In fact, Sievert describes the carrier’s first iPhone day as “gangbusters.” Maybe this means customers will no longer ditch T-Mobile in search of Apple’s popular device.

In a statement to AllThingsD, Sievert said the carrier experienced lines at nearly all of its 3,000 stores round the U.S. We cruised by a T-Mobile location during lunchtime, but there were no lines in site despite stanchions still up outside the store. Perhaps the crowds dissipated by then, which is a definite possibility.

Talking about customers flocking to pick up the device, Sievert said today’s explosion of interest is a clear indication people still crave Apple gear. Couple that with T-Mobile’s new Uncarrier initiative, along with a pretty sweet trade-in deal, and customers currently have access to one of the best iPhone deals around. The device may be many months old, but it appears the iPhone 5 has still got it.
