Dark Souls II: 12 Minutes of Gameplay Footage and Screenshots

by Ron Duwell | April 11, 2013April 11, 2013 12:20 pm PDT

Is there a more exciting Japanese video game franchise out there more exciting than FromSoftware’s Souls series? I didn’t think so.

Many fans are nervous about the upcoming Dark Souls II with director Hidetaka Miyazaki moving on to other projects and rumors of a more casual approach to the typical brutal gameplay. FromSoftware wants you to know there is no cause for alarm, and they have set out to prove this by releasing 12 minutes of gameplay footage through IGN, which you can see here.

From face value, nothing looks to be out of place. Combat seems a little faster, but the game definitely won’t be enjoyable to button mashers if that’s what most are worried about. The graphical leap is also huge with gorgeous fire lighting blazing in the dark tunnels.

Consider me sold for when Dark Souls II launches for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 either in late 2013 or early 2014.
