Deutsche Telekom May Offer More for MetroPCS/T-Mobile Merger

Deutsche Telekom is currently in talks to acquire MetroPCS to merge it with T-Mobile USA. We use that term loosely, however, because it’s more than just talks at this point. In fact, the Federal Communications Commission already offered its nod of approval and the Department of Justice didn’t deny the deal; two major steps that needed to happen before the process could continue.

Now MetroPCS and its shareholders are holding a vote on whether or not Deutsche Telekom is offering a fair shake. An advisory firm recently rejected the offer and believes that MetroPCS can earn more. As such, the AP has learned that T-Mobile is considering offering more than its current bid for the smaller wireless carrier.

It’s unknown what the new offer is at this point, but we know T-Mobile USA certainly is trying to do all that it can, with the help of Deutsche Telekom, to make sure the deal goes through. It will need the extra spectrum as it continues to build out its 4G LTE network.
