30 Minutes of Team Fortress 2 in Virtual Reality Through Oculus Rift Headset

The guys over at Tested received an early development kit of the Kickstarter funded Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset, and they used it to record 30 minutes of everyone’s favorite multiplayer shooter, Team Fortress 2.

Initial reactions using the headset lean towards both confusion and excitement. Controlling the game with your head and eyes is obviously a new technique and yet to be mastered by anyone, but once a good old fashioned mouse and WASD are added to the fray, shooting and killing becomes much more natural.

The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset that was created after a successful $2.4 million dollar Kickstarter campaign. It received endorsements from developers around the industry, and dev-kits should be out and about for early backers. No release date or official price have been set as of yet for the consumer version, but estimates have put the device at about $200-$300.
